The World Happiness Report 2025 published by the University of Oxford’s Wellbeing Research Centre in partnership with Gallup, has positioned Oman at 52nd globally, reflecting the nation’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the well-being of its citizens. This ranking also places Oman fourth within the Arab world, following the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

While Oman continues to make strides in areas such as economic diversification, infrastructure development, and social welfare programs, the report highlights areas where further progress can be made to enhance overall well-being.

The report evaluates happiness based on factors such as social support, GDP per capita, freedom, generosity, and perceptions of corruption. According to this year’s survey conducted by Gallup, Oman’s life evaluation score from 2022 to 2024 stands at 6.197 out of 10. While this reflects a slight decrease of 0.656 points since 2012, Oman remains one of the more content countries in the Arab world.

In the Arab region, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) led with a global ranking of 21st, surpassing countries like the UK, US, Germany and the Singapore. Kuwait followed in 30th place globally, ranking second in the Arab world, while Saudi Arabia ranked 32nd globally and third in the region. Bahrain ranked 59th globally and fifth in the Arab world.

The report evaluates happiness levels in 147 countries based on factors like GDP per capita, social support, freedom to make life choices, and perceptions of corruption.

Globally, Finland maintained its position as the happiest country for the eighth consecutive year. Other Nordic countries like Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and the Netherlands completed the top five.
